Job Description

The Manager position will lead the Group accounting team within the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Group accounting function is responsible for accurate and timely global consolidations and reporting of LSG ($7 billion in revenue).

As the Manager of the Group accounting team, you will play a meaningful role in ensuring flawless financial reporting for LSG. You will work within an ambitious and collaborative environment, driving accuracy and compliance across global operations.

What will you do?

The Manager will lead a team of one accountant and have responsibilities related to the following areas:

Fixed assets Capital Acquisition Request (CAR) process, including AAM implementation and providing technical accounting mentorship to business partnersPurchase accounting for LSG acquisitions and integration into our accounting and reporting structure and processesTechnical accounting research of complex issues to ensure accurate accounting treatment for in-licensing agreements, investments, and other accounting areasMonthly closing of the ledgers in accordance with the financial close scheduleAnalytical review of the monthly financial results of the global LSG businessCoordination of the quarterly reviews and year-end financial audit process performed by the external independent auditorsEnsure that global accounting functions are being performed as stated in company proceduresReview work and conduct goal setting, performance evaluations and career development discussions for teamIdentify and drive process improvement initiatives

How will you get here?

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience (preferably with a CPA certification)You have 6+ years of dynamic accounting/finance experience with some management experience preferred (combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred)You possess a good understanding of U.S. GAAP with demonstrated sophisticated accounting and technical skillsYou have effective written and oral communication skillsYou can thrive in a large, matrixed, international organization and have the ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teamsYou keep an eye toward continuous improvement with a successful track record of optimizing processesYou can prioritize multiple projects and complete them successfullyYou are successful in a fast pace environment

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $103,100.00–$160,000.00.
