Accounting Manager
Responsibilities The Manager will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and reporting across a mixed portfolio of various real estate asset classes and development stages. The Manager will be responsible for the day to day oversight and preparation of financial reporting, performing general ledger financial analysis, cash management, cash flow analysis, preparing quarterly and annual projections, and analyzing monthly and year-to-date budget variances. In this capacity, the role will have the opportunity to collaborate across Accounting, Construction, Design, Development, Finance, Marketing and Property Management teams to provide best-in-class accounting and financial reporting services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee and Assist in the daily accounting for the various activities and transactions Review and analyze the general ledger, financial statements and prepare appropriate accrual and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP Review monthly bank reconciliations Review monthly capital call packages for capital improvements and/or development draw requests Prepare financial statement analysis for management and partners on a GAAP basis and/or tax basis Collaborate with VP and business executives on monthly cash flow forecasting Review and prepare detailed monthly, quarterly and year end work paper packages from posted journal entries and general ledger analysis Assist in the preparation and review of annual audited financial statements on GAAP basis Assist with preparation of yearly budgets and quarterly forecasting Create reporting templates, formulate analysis using applications such as Excel, and JD Edwards accounting software and participate in various business process/technology integration initiatives Support system improvement initiatives, including streamlining and automating processes, converging accounting systems and enhancing internal controls. Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests. This position will oversee a team of accountants and report to the Vice President of Finance & Accounting. The role will be located at Related Beal’s corporate office at 177 Milk Street, Boston, MA. Qualifications Qualifications: Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in Accounting; CPA with some public accounting background is advantageous Industry experience in a real estate development or real estate investment company preferred, but will consider other fast-paced, cash flow intensive industries Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; advanced degree, a plus Experience with JD Edwards, Yardi, MRI, Hyperion Planning, Concur, Ariba and/or UltiPro, a plus Excellent accounting and analytical skills Highly organized and detail oriented Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Understanding of operational control environments and financial/operating systems Confidence to independently research, question uncertainties and implement solutions Exceptional prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage complexity and achieve results, while navigating shifting priorities Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Entrepreneurial character and self-motivation.
