Basic Job Functions:

The responsibilities of the Accounting Manager include but are not limited to all accounting functions including general ledger, tax, capital expenditures, asset management, financial and compliance reporting, account reconciliations, costing files, assisting with forecasting, monthly balancing, inventory management, and recording and timely reporting of accounting records/transactions. The successful candidate reports directly to the Controller and will serve as their backup. They will also provide leadership to accountants. Other responsibilities include:

•    Oversight and execution of Nucor’s accounting, reporting, and internal control related activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
•    Manage the month-end accounting system close process, produce all corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and ensure proper internal controls are maintained.  
•    Develop an in-depth understanding of the production environment and functions as a financial liaison with the division management team.
•    Take a lead role in the implementation, communication, and interpretation of accounting and financial policies, control and system improvements; supervision of external and internal audit processes and ensuring that proper internal controls are maintained.  
•    Providing analytical support to  departments as it relates to accounting issues and driving continuous cost improvements across all aspects of the business.  
•    Training and the development and growth opportunities of accounting teammates. 
 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business related field.
•    Five (5) years experience in accounting or finance. 
•    Three (3) years leadership experience. 
•    Experience in external/internal audit compliance.
•    Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and conducting financial/business analysis.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Experience working in a manufacturing industry.
•    CPA or equivalent certification (such as CPP, CPS or FPC).
•    Master’s in accounting or MBA.
•    Willingness and ability to relocate to other Nucor locations for future career advancement opportunities.
