Accounting Manager
Job Title: Accounting Manager Job Description Looking for candidates with a solid understanding of basic GAAP accounting. The focus of this role is on the income statement and proper recognition of revenue, gross profit, and proper coding of SG&A expenses. This role involves developing strong working relationships with the branches supported, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must be capable of understanding and consistently executing the SOX program. The position involves closing the month for one or more branches each month following a closing calendar, preparing a monthly financial forecast in collaboration with the branch leadership team, reviewing job cost data weekly, and making necessary corrections or adjustments. Additionally, the role requires ad hoc reporting and participation in various meetings. Responsibilities + Ensure branch monthly/quarterly compliance with GAAP and SOX reporting compliance and testing standards. + Work with branch management to manage financial requests and issue resolution. + Actively participate in monthly project reviews and collaborate with branch operations and project teams to analyze project trends and inefficiencies, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies. + Update and review branch financial tools for monthly reporting during branch reviews and month-end preliminary financials. + Assist in the annual planning and monthly forecasting process by entering and reviewing expenses, backlog, and other financial data as needed. + Maximize billing, drive collections, create future week forecasts, and manage opportunities to maximize branch cash performance. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field AND 4+ years of relevant, job-related experience OR 6+ years of relevant, job-related experience in the construction industry (without a degree). + Well-rounded financial experience - including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting financial data. + Strong communication (written and verbal) skills, analytical ability, and attention to detail. + Capacity to successfully execute job tasks in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision. + Previous financial experience in the construction industry. + Ability to travel up to 5% of the time. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Functional knowledge of the Work In Progress (WIP) schedule. + Experience with Viewpoint construction software. + Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) compliance. + Experience in companies with $10 million+ in revenue. Work Environment Initially, the role requires on-site presence for about a month of training. After the training period, the position offers a hybrid work environment with flexible days, typically requiring 1-2 days in the office. The standard shift is first shift, Monday to Friday, but longer days may be necessary during the close period.
