Position Specific Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager leads a team of project controllers and is responsible for Financial Reporting and Accounting for the Upstream Gas Infrastructure business that operates in excess of 3,000 oil and gas wells across 3 basins in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. Responsibilities include oversite of the general ledger for several companies that consolidate up to NextEra Energy Resources, including monthly close cycles, quarterly and annual reporting responsibilities. Oversite over Fixed Asset DDA and Impairments assessments. Coordinate and manage internal and external audit support and ensure all audits are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Oversee compliance with SOX controls related to the financial reporting and fixed assets controls. Establish and execute accounting policies and procedures and support technical accounting matters related to the Upstream business. Oversee and report to Senior Management monthly financial results and analysis.

 

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting with CPA certification. A business degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 hours of Accounting will be considered. 8+ years of oil and gas accounting experience required, along with significant leadership experience leading an accounting team. Proficient knowledge of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles and research technical matters. Position requires sound analytical ability. Ability to gather and communicate data logically, accurately, and concisely. Must be able to meet rigorous deadlines and work effectively with others. Strong technical proficiencies within MS Excel, SAP and Upstream Accounting Systems are also highly preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
•   Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
•   Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
•   Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
•   Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 8+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's - Business Administration
