Position Summary:
Responsible for the supervision of the Accountants and Accounting Assistant. Assists the Director of Accounting in the preparation of monthly financial statements and the month-end close. Directly responsible for the year-end audit for both the hospital and the pension plans. Also coordinates the preparation of the 990 tax return. Prepares and files the yearly unclaimed property returns for the hospital.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Directs and organizes the general accounting department through effective communication and productive feedback from staff.
Assist in the execution of the closing schedule with a focus on the due dates in an effort to facilitate a timely close.
Oversee/or prepare the Endowment Fund and Fixed Assets maintenance, accounting, and reconciliations.
Maintains reconciliation of all assigned balance sheet accounts and the payroll account bank reconciliation.
Oversee and /or prepare various regulatory reporting such as Fast, Apollo, and Unclaimed property.
Prepare Annual investment schedules - Short Term & Board Designated Assets
Deliver TD wire transfer listing (last five working days prior year – first five working days current year
Maintain DB plan responsibilities including monthly statements, investment summary worksheet, monitor investment policy, and prepare PBGC premiums.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education-
Required: Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Preferred: None
Minimum Years of Experience –
Required: Two or more years of general accounting experience
Preferred: One year supervisory experience.
License, Registry or Certification -
Required: None
Preferred: CPA license or HFMA Fellowship.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities -
Required: Knowledge of PCs, general ledger, accounts payable and payroll
Preferred: Advanced PC user in Excel and general ledger software
