POSITION PURPOSE The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and the timely preparation of financial statements. This position requires leadership, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Position Reports To: VP of Finance Positions Supervised:Junior Accountants (2); Senior Financial Accountant Salary:$73,412 - $93,765 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES + Financial Reporting and Analysis: + Oversee the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. + Ensure the accuracy of all financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). + Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization. + Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. + Prepare department related reports for Asset Liability reporting and management + Team Leadership: + Manage and mentor a team of accountants, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. + Allocate tasks, set clear performance expectations, and provide regular feedback to team members. + Ensure that all accounting functions are completed within the prescribed deadlines and in a consistent manner. + Participate in Asset Liability Committee meetings and ensure timely follow-up of department-related requests. + General Ledger Maintenance: + Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including month-end and year-end closing processes. + Review account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. + Budgeting and Forecasting: + Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. + Monitor budget variances and provide reports and recommendations to management. + Compliance and Internal Controls: + Ensure that accounting processes comply with all relevant financial regulations and company policies. + Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud. + Stay up to date on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance. + Manage systems access for accounting related systems as it pertains to new/termed employees. + Tax Compliance: + Oversee the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax returns. + Ensure compliance with all tax laws and deadlines. + Process Improvement: + Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency of accounting operations. + Assist in the development of accounting systems, tools, and software upgrades to streamline workflows. + Performs additional duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS Performance is measured against the core competencies as outlined by the position and against goals established by the VP of Finance and EVP. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field + Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. + Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements. + This position requires that the employee gain a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and how they will affect their work. The employee will comply with all requirements of the BSA and cooperate with the designated BSA Officer in assuring compliance. + Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat. + Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. + Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. + Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. + Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance. Ability to project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times. Salary Description $73,412 - $93,765 annually depending on experience
