Responsibilities

A fast-growing, mid-sized government contractor is seeking a dynamic, experienced Accounting Manager to join our team.  This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to gain exposure to and expertise in all aspects of accounting and finance at a growing company.

 

Please note this is a remote position and we are looking for local candidates.

 

Responsibilities include:

Supervise and train a staff of one Sr AccountantManage month-end close, including accounts payable, cash receipts, general ledger, labor distribution. Ensure monthly accounting calendar deadlines are met.Responsible for the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payroll; work with HR to ensure all employee deductions, garnishments, and other benefits are accurate and complete before processingSupervise billing and ensure all customer invoices are accurate and timelyReview balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis and resolve issuesAssist with new hire on-boarding and off-boarding process by creating and maintaining employee recordsMaintain project accounting records and update as necessary when new contracts are awarded, or modifications received.Execute internal controls and help maintain a compliant DCAA Accounting SystemSupport accurate and efficient transaction processing in compliance with the policies and practices. Make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the department

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance field is required6-8 years of relevant work experience, government contracting experience is preferred.Experience with Deltek Costpoint is requiredExcellent computer and analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft ExcelMust be flexible, energetic, independent, a quick learner with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence.Self-motivated and works effectively under pressure, detail and deadline-oriented, multi-tasking abilities a must.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills – an ability to identify, analyze, and help resolve issues timely.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks going on simultaneously, with overlapping responsibilities and firm due dates.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of staff & management.

 

Physical Requirements

These are the essential physical requirements needed to successfully perform the job.

Sedentary work.Requires sitting up to 8 hours per day.May require lifting up to 5 pounds unassisted.Fine repetitive motor skills with hands, wrists, and fingers in coordination with eyes.Hearing, speaking, and vision: Adequate to perform job duties and communicate in person, via video, and telephone. Includes reading information from printed sources and computer screens.Other: Work may be performed in an office environment, which may involve frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times.
