Accounting Manager
Position summary: The Accounting Manage is a supervisory position with responsibility for the Business Office, Treasury Management, and Accounts Receivable/Payable.  This is a security sensitive, supervisory position. Position responsibilities: + Supervise all assigned personnel (typically areas of accounting and student accounting activities) + Supervise all accounting/financial activities including accounting, cash/treasury management, and account reconciliations. + Develop and/or implement systems and procedures to ensure the college’s financial system is accurate, efficient, and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and governmental regulations. + Develop and/or implement training programs to ensure all business office staff have the skills necessary to carry out their assignments. + Continually enhance and improve systems and processes to achieve college goals of improving student experience and data analysis. + Preparation of the Annual Financial Report and coordination of the annual audit process with external auditors. + Supervise and conduct periodic activities in a timely manner, including:  Periodic State Reporting; Yearly Financial Statement Preparation and Audit work; Annual Improvement Plan; Personnel Evaluations; G5 Cash Draws; General Ledger maintenance, security, and analysis; 1098T verification; Budget transfers and preparation; Program reviews and audits; + Implementation of new modules and processes within Kilgore College’s ERP system as assigned. + Partner with the Controller in the development and monitoring of the annual budget, financial reporting, forecasting, financial planning, and special reports/assignments. + Review check requests, petty cash disbursements, billings, journal entries, contracts, and payroll documents. + Provide day-to-day problem solving with solutions focused on solving the immediate issue while addressing underlying challenges. + Preparation and distribution of special and/or grant program budgets and financial reports. + Evaluate all assigned staff and develop plans to continually grow staff and processes to improve efficiencies and professional development. + Regular attendance of a full-time work day. + Serve as a productive and participatory member of the Business Office staff. + Serve on various institutional committees. + Represent Kilgore College through community involvement and activities. + Other duties as necessary and assigned by supervisor. Minimum Position Requirements: + Baccalaureate Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or related field. + At least two years of experience in similar position, preferably including fiscal management of state and federal grants.  Or two years of experience in role within a Finance Department with a high level of responsibility. + Ability to effectively communicate (written & verbal). + Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Office. + Ability to lead and coach varied levels of office staff. + Self-starter, detail oriented, and works well under pressure. + Accepts responsibility, works independently and meets deadlines on a regular basis. + Ability to work with multiple teams and build relationships within the College. Desired Qualifications: + Professional Accountant license strongly preferred. + Proficiency in computer systems and database design. + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Supervisory Responsibilities: + 5  Full-Time Direct Reports    0 Part-Time Direct Reports Physical Demands and Work Environment: + Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment. + No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. + No or very limited exposure to physical risk. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.
