Accounting Manager
Job Title: Accounting ManagerJob Description Lead financial accounting and reporting for the Corporate Benefits and Corporate Insurance organizations in Corporate Finance. This position focuses on developing and maintaining accounting and financial internal controls, leading the financial planning, reporting, and analysis process, and providing financial support to laboratory management. Responsibilities + Utilize a computerized financial management software system to maintain and process financial data and records. + Utilize a computerized spreadsheet program for reporting, reconciling, and analyzing data. + Reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts, follow up on discrepancies, and prepare reconciling general journal entries. + Review and reconcile bank statements. + Prepare financial reports. + Research and summarize various financial and budget information to assist accounting staff. + Prepare and verify journal vouchers, ledger entries, and varied records and reports. + Perform general office support tasks such as maintaining files, proofreading, and assisting with business partner inquiries. + Monitor compliance with company financial policies. + Perform other related work as required. Essential Skills + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting and/or Finance. + 7+ years of work experience in accounting function. + General knowledge and understanding of accounting and GAAP. + Knowledge of technical accounting principles and practices used in financial record-keeping. + Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred. + Demonstrated experience performing analytical, research, and problem-solving responsibilities. + Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). + Ability to work effectively both independently and in a supportive, diverse team environment. + Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels in the organization. + Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. + Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CPA preferred. + Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred. + Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. + Experience in finance or accounting within a high volume clinical service laboratory serving multiple customers is desirable, but not required. + MBA, CPA, and/or CMA qualification is preferred. + Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. + Must be highly organized and capable of interfacing with individuals in a variety of positions at multiple levels and disciplines throughout the Division. Work Environment Fully onsite in North Chicago/Lake Bluff. No direct reports, and no supervisor/manager experience required. The position involves managing technical projects, participating in financial close and reporting activities, and handling cost center activities for corporate benefits, income statement/balance sheet work, journal entries, cash flow analytics, and operational activities. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
