THE ROLE
As the International Accounting Manager, you will support the corporate consolidation and compliance of our international subsidiaries in accordance with US GAAP. This hands-on position involves overseeing month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting audits, tax filings, and compliance efforts. You'll work cross-functionally with various teams including, Internal Audit, External Audit, Treasury, FP&A and Tax while contributing to special projects that drive global success. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of accounting for our international subsidiaries, intercompany transactions and consolidations
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial information in accordance with US GAAP and internal company policies
Assist the Director in the month-end close process, including managing the close calendar and communications for the international team
Month-end duties include review of financial statements, trial balances, journal entries, variance analysis and general ledger reconciliations
Manage team workload to complete all activities accurately and within established timeframes to meet month-end deadlines
Mentor and train team members as needed to ensure adherence to business processes, GAAP, corporate policies and controls.
Assist in data compilation for statutory tax filings and quarterly/annual corporate tax filings.
Manage ad hoc financial projects, as needed.
Ability to “take ownership” of tasks and projects from start to finish meeting deliverable deadlines..
Adaptable to learn business processes independently and all functional areas of the team.
Review existing and new processes to determine the tasks needed & timeframe to complete.
Handle larger volume & complex processes or tasks for team & Agency Partners.
Ability to clean up & research issues as needed or on regular basis.
Take initiative to improve processes & team responsibilities.
Adhere to all systems, procedures, and insurance company regulations.
Complex accounting guidance research as needed to propose treatment and/or comply with GAAP or IFRS.
Build and maintain relationships with Agency Partners and Corporate Accounting team members

INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION & SKILL SET
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required (CPA preferred, not required)
5 years progressive growth in financial reporting roles and team management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience working with large scale ERP systems such as Workday (preferred but not required)
Highly organized, detail oriented, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to a high level of accuracy
Able to work independently and enjoy a high degree of interaction with team members
Ability to contribute to a collaborative global environment by consistently demonstrating teamwork, high motivation, positive behaviour, and effort to achieve goals and objectives
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, including the ability actively listen, and problem solve with minimal assistance
Demonstrates excellent time management and prioritization skills
The ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and use discretion surrounding sensitive information
Ability to maintain a professional demeanour and positive attitude
Hands-on experience managing accounting for multiple international entities
Proficient US GAAP knowledge is required
Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP (preferred but not required)
Knowledge of Foreign Currency Translation (preferred but not required)
