Description We are seeking a diligent Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join our team in Gorham, Maine. In this role, you'll be tasked with overseeing accounting functions, managing the general ledger, and ensuring the smooth running of month and year-end activities. Additionally, you'll be charged with the supervision of staff and the management of federal grants. Responsibilities: • Oversee and manage the entire accounting operations of our non-profit organization • Supervise and guide staff members, ensuring adherence to established accounting principles and practices • Facilitate the month-end closing activities and annual financial reporting • Maintain and update the general ledger on a regular basis • Manage and oversee federal grants, ensuring compliance with all associated regulations and reporting requirements • Monitor and reconcile various accounts regularly, identifying and resolving any discrepancies • Collaborate with other departments to improve financial procedures and ensure accurate financial reporting • Assist in other accounting-related tasks as assigned by the senior management. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required. • Minimum of five years of experience in accounting, specifically within the non-profit sector. • Proficient in managing all accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. • Demonstrated experience in handling month end close and month-end close activities. • Experience with federal grant management and compliance is a must. • Proficient in preparing annual financial reports and statements. • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to lead and supervise a team effectively. • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
