WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: \n

We are seeking a career-focused Accounting Specialist to join our team in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. This person will join a team of accounting professionals aimed at maintaining the Bank's financials and ensuring accuracy in everything they do. It's not realistic to assume that one person can be accurate 100% of the time, so we have been very intentional about how we structure our accounting team. Collectively we maintain excellence and meet all regulatory requirements and Bank established standards. \n

This role is ideal for someone starting their career in accounting, and bank experience is not required, however, would be beneficial. The job involves a blend of AP and general accounting, so strong understanding of accounting principles and excel is required. Working on a 6-month rotation with a team of four other Accounting Specialists, you will be exposed to a wide variety of accounting tasks and assist with back-up support and coverage as needed. \n

TO SUM UP: \n

We're looking for someone who has: \n\nPreferably a 2- or 4-year degree in accounting, but a High School diploma and 4+ years of direct accounting experience is acceptable \nPreferably 2 years of accounting experience, but willing to consider recent graduates with internship experience, strong accounting acumen, and willingness to learn\nBanking industry experience a plus, but understanding of accounting principles and ability to understand, follow, and adapt to banking industry regulations required \nStrong Excel skills, and aptitude for learning new software\nDesire to work in a team environment and collaborate, share, and learn from others\nA reasonable commute to our Grand Rapids, MI headquarters to work in-office during orientation period, and 3 days a week in-office upon hybrid work arrangement approval\nExtremely high attention to detail \nStrong organizational skills and ability to manage digital files, data, and systems \nCurious and analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement \nStrong personal accountability with ability to manage time effectively \n\n
