We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our Labor Accounting team within the Finance Department at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems located in Poway, CA. This role involves performing various accounting tasks, including timecard entry, employee data setup, reconciliations, and providing employee support. A successful team member is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service. Comprehensive training is provided for this position.
This position follows a hybrid work model, with a combination of remote and in-office workdays.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Frequently interacts with employees via phone and email, providing timekeeping support and guidance consistent with Company policies and procedures.
+ Processes timecard corrections by reviewing submissions for compliance and completing the data entry timely and accurately.
+ Participates in weekly labor processing in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.
+ Assists with the calculation and reconciliation of special payments.
+ Recommends and initiates procedures to improve efficiency of internal processes.
+ Executes moderately complex queries and reports from accounting systems for labor, payroll, and other reconciliations, noting any inconsistencies and resolving discrepancies and exceptions.
+ Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or required to support the goals of the Labor Accounting department.
+ Participates in the research and analysis of accounting entries and initiates appropriate adjusting entries that will maintain integrity of accounting records.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a high school diploma and four or more years of progressive experience in an accounting department or a related field. May substitute additional experience in lieu of education.
+ A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business or Finance highly desired.
+ Demonstrates exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) with proven ability to communicate clearly and respectfully for all internal and external customers.
+ Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly.
+ Must have good communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
+ Knowledge of MS Office with strong working knowledge of Excel is required to create and maintain highly involved spreadsheets using complex functions and formulas.
+ Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be capable of effectively interacting with professional staff.
+ Knowledge/experience with ERP business systems is desired (SAP preferable).
+ Additional workdays in the office may be requested.
+ AutoTime /Kronos timekeeping experience desired.
+ HR/Payroll experience desired.
