Job Description:

The Accounting Specialist position assists the Accounting Manager of the Bursar’s Office with the processing of student waivers. Posting waiver transactions for university departments, State Agencies, and Graduate Assistantships. Creating and submitting needed reports to departments and agencies upon request.

Customer Service/Emails and Inquiries: Monitor and respond in a timely manner to emails, phone calls, and departmental request regarding waivers for student accounts. Monitor and respond to Bursar Waiver Salesforce cases. Manage campus data and file storage systems, such as Dropbox and Teams. Waiver Processing/Group and Individual Transactions: The function of posting waivers to student accounts occur in a variety of processing transactions. This will require knowledge of student accounts, payment processing, waiver authority, and state regulations. Most waivers will be processed in group batches, requiring strong skills and understanding of PeopleSoft Student Financials and student and group transactions. Reporting and Accounting Analysis: This position will be responsible for creating and submitting necessary/required reports for posted waivers. Reports for monthly, termly, and/or annual reports for university departments, State Agencies, and Board of Governors will be provided in a timely manner to the appropriate requesting entity. Strong analytical and excel data skills will be necessary for this component of the position. Policy Regulations Review and Communications: Monitor and stay up to date with State Waiver regulations and Board of Governors reports. Review and maintain waiver information on Bursar Office and other University Department websites, Teams channels, emails, and other databases. Expected Salary:

$46,000 - $54,000

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to work independently and as a team.

Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

Experience in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments.

Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data
