Accounting Specialist

Marcus Theatres is in search of an Accounting Specialist to join our team. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including processing invoices and petty cash, preparing journal entries and weekly deposits, creating management reports, resolving customer inquiries via the Accounts Payable inbox, and ensuring accurate account coding for invoices. This role will communicate and partner with our internal procurement team, external vendors, Theatre managers, and various other corporate departments.

What you will be doing:

·        Review invoices and petty cash to ensure proper billing and Account coding.

·        Review invoices and confirms correct state tax rates.

·        Accountable for the coding and verification of necessary invoice approvals.

·        Prepare weekly and monthly management reporting as needed.

·        Responsible for data entry and preparation of journal entries.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What we are looking for:

·        2 years of prior experience in a similar accounting focused role.

·        Bachelor’s (or advanced) Degree in Accounting preferred, CPA or equivalent experience helpful.

·        Strong analytical skills, comprehension of accounting processes and technical accounting topics, and the ability to communicate the results of analysis performed.

·        Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to solve complex problems.

·        Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

·        Be well-organized in order to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks while remaining detail oriented. 

·        Professional working proficiency in excel (i.e. data entry, simple formulas and formula maintenance).

·        Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks and software systems to meet the changing demands of the entertainment industry.

·        Ability to work in person at our corporate offices.
