Job Description

The Accounting Specialist will work closely with the Financial Resources Specialist (FRS) and Acquisition Management Analyst (AMA) for all accounting functions. This position will be contracted through our client to work for a government entity. The role involves assisting in establishing financial obligations related to contracts and agreements, and maintaining electronic and hard copy financial files. The Accounting Specialist will also assist agreement recipients in preparing advance and reimbursement payment requests and supporting documentation, and ensure the timely submission of financial and performance progress reports.

ResponsibilitiesAssist in establishing financial obligations related to contracts and agreements.Maintain electronic and hard copy financial files related to contracts and agreements.Assist agreement recipients in preparing advance and reimbursement payment requests and supporting documentation.Ensure timely submission of financial and performance progress reports.Review advance and reimbursement payment requests from agreement recipients for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with financial and programmatic requirements.Gather and report quarterly payment accrual information.Conduct quarterly reviews of open obligations by verifying performance periods for agreements and contracts and associated financial data.Assist in the timely closing out of expired, terminated, and cancelled contracts and agreements in accordance with financial and programmatic requirements.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in accounting.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables (PT) and VLOOKUPS.Experience in reconciliation, journal entry, general ledger, accounting, invoicing, month-end processes, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.High level of communication skills, both written and verbal.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree (preferred).Comfortable learning new software systems.Ability to pass a National Agency Check (NACI) and/or Office of Personnel Management (OPM) National Security (NS) community background investigation.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00
