Description Part-Time Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper (Contract-to-Hire) Are you an experienced accounting professional seeking flexibility and an opportunity to work with a dynamic team? We’re hiring! Our client in Downtown Houston is seeking a Part-Time Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is perfect for someone organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with data entry and financial operations. With a diverse mix of responsibilities and flexibility in scheduling, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills and contribute meaningfully. Key Details: + Schedule: 24-hour workweek (3 days per week) with flexible hours. + Location: In-office attendance required for 3 days per week (free parking or a transit pass provided). Role Responsibilities: + Data entry and maintaining accurate financial records. + Process broker statements and ensure correct journal entries. + Reconcile bank accounts, brokerage statements, and other financial documents. + Handle check runs, deposits, and overall cash management. + Month-end consolidation: Prepare financial reports. + Oversee intercompany transactions and manage accounting across approximately 40 entities (most are straightforward). Requirements Preferred Skills & Qualifications: + Strong foundation in basic accounting and bookkeeping principles. + Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and handling brokerage statements is preferred. + Detail-oriented with the ability to manage bookkeeping tasks for multiple entities at varying levels of complexity. + Proficiency with Peachtree is a plus but not required. Education/Experience: + College degree is NOT required – we value relevant work experience and expertise.
