Accounting Specialist
Description Robert Half is partnering with a Minneapolis, Minnesota based client in search of an Accounting Specialist to join their team on an interim basis for the next 3-4 months. In this role, you will be responsible for both the accounts payable process as well as the payroll processing function. Prior experience both functions is highly desired. The role is open due to a recent vacancy on the team, so the client is looking for someone to start ASAP. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable Processing: + Enter, review, and process approximately 150 vendor invoices per week using Great Plains software. + Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies with vendors promptly. + Verify proper coding for expense allocations and ensure compliance with company policies. + Prepare, review, and manage check runs, wire transfers, and ACH payments. + Maintain vendor records, including W-9 documentation for 1099 reporting. + Generate AP aging reports and assist in month-end closing procedures. + Collaborate with internal teams to handle inquiries related to AP activities. Payroll Processing: + Process biweekly payroll for 250 employees across various departments. + Verify and input timesheets, ensure proper approvals, and maintain payroll data accuracy. + Confirm payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings. + Prepare and distribute direct deposit advices or physical paychecks as required. + Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. + Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and year-end reports (e.g., W-2s). + Address payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. Requirements • 3+ years of prior A/P and payroll processing experience is highly preferred. • Prior experience with Great Plains or similar, mid-sized company ERP, is highly desired. • Comfort level processing 150+ non-PO invoices in a week. • Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, both via phone and via email. • An Associates Degree in Accounting is highly desired, but not required.
