Accounting Specialist
Description We are offering a contract for a permanent employment opportunity for an Accounting Specialist in the Non-profit space where experience with direct services payments translates well. The successful candidate will perform a variety of accounting and bookkeeping/AP tasks, with a focus on managing client funds. Responsibilities: • Carry out daily processes and controls accurately and on time to ensure compliance with company policies • Receive and process client fund requests, prepare checks, and batch them for distribution to clients • Reconcile received receipts against the checks processed and address any delinquent receipts • Ensure all client bills/invoices are paid within the payment term and checks are mailed within 24 hours of the issue date • Generate pre-designed reports on a daily, weekly, biweekly, and monthly basis for various departments to ensure company compliance • Monitor all SSDI/SSI funding on a monthly basis to ensure all benefits are up to date • Complete Representative Payee reports filed with Social Security and all other Social Security reports in a timely manner • Facilitate the compilation of all required documents to be submitted to the State and Social Security for redetermination within specified time-frames • Maintain comprehensive client files including all documentation relating to client funding • Reconcile client funds cash account • Calculate various fees and make bank deposits and record account entries • Update relevant parties of outstanding receipts for fund requests • Invoice Non- Rep Payee for expenses incurred for them by the organization • Attend client team meetings when client fund issues are involved • Monitor waiver eligibility and complete waiver redetermination • Review all MA claims denials and follow up with Clinical Director • Assist the Controller with analysis and projects as directed, and proactively identify and communicate issues to the Controller. Requirements • Proficiency in Excel Formulas and Microsoft Excel. • Demonstrated ability in using Pivot Table for data management. • Experience in Cash Applications within the social care/services sector. • Familiarity with Medicare procedures, including Medicare Billing and Medicare Claim handling. • Expertise in Medicaid procedures, encompassing Medicaid Billing. • Ability to Reconcile Accounts and perform Account Reconciliation accurately. • Proven experience in Cash Reconciliations. • Skills in Expense Reconciliation, ensuring financial accuracy. • Capacity for Critical Thinking to solve complex problems. • Capability to perform Criticality Analysis to prioritize tasks and manage risks.
