Accounting Specialist - Corporate Finance

About the role

We are currently seeking an Accounting Specialist within the Corporate Finance team who will play a critical role in supporting our growth. If you are looking for a stimulating career, in a dynamic and constantly changing work environment, this position is for you.

What you’ll do here:

The incumbent will actively participate in the process of recording and providing quality, reliable and timely financial information. In addition, the incumbent will:

Complete monthly reporting deliverables including journal entry preparation.

Assist in the validation financial data, as well as various reconciliations and controls.

Support our business units in providing insights to monthly results including variance analysis.

Participate in the financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives.

Take a critical look at the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations.

Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise.

Simplify, standardize, secure and increase controls of different work files.

Help facilitate the audit processes of general accruals and reconciliations and liaise with internal and external auditors.

Contribute to maintaining a robust internal control environment. Maintain 52 109 documentation and ensure the accuracy of audit evidence for test purposes.


What you bring to the table:

Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) – is required

Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and IFRS accounting standards – is required

Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry is an asset

Knowledge of Oracle Fusion and Essbase is an asset.

Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change

Discipline, autonomy and professionalism

Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders

For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
