Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Assistant Controller. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for performing a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. The Accounting Supervisor must be accustomed to a high volume of automated and manual transactions, fast paced manufacturing environment, and new ERP system implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Review and reconcile accounts, prepare and approve journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that the organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position.Operating as a shared service center model, including understanding and navigating centralized financial operations, managing interdepartmental communications, optimizing processes for efficiency, and handling high-volume transactions and service requests within a shared services environment.Assist & lead a team on the month end close process.Preparation and review of periodic account reconciliations.Assist the treasury function by approving cash payments and cash receipts transactions as needed.Assist in reviewing information for completion of Mexico corporate income tax returns.Assist in reviewing IMSS reports, SAT reports and other statutory reporting.Assist with the compilation of deliverables to internal auditors.Participate in the new ERP (INFOR/LN) implementation.Ad Hoc projects deemed necessary by the accounting department.Ensure compliance with SOX controls.Ensure compliance with Marmon policies (SPIs) by reinforcing internal control processes in place to obtain required documentation and approvals.


 

Required Qualifications, Skills/Competencies

Proficient user of large ERP Systems (experience with INFOR/LN preferred, but not required).Self-starter with strong work ethic, and a flexible and collaborative work style.Strong communication skills.Experience leading a team.Flexible and adaptable to changes.Strong understanding of Mexico GAAP in regards to maquiladoras, as well as commercial accounting.Ability to interact with various levels of staff throughout the organization.Strong understanding of accounting concepts and good analytical skills.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.Adherence to timelines and deliverables, monitoring self-performance to ensure achievement of results.

Education/Experience

Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in manufacturing environment.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.Experience in INFOR/LN or BAAN is a plus.ERP implementation or merger integration experience is a plus.Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

Working Conditions:  Work is performed largely in an office and manufacturing environment. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week but may vary according to special projects, deadlines, or other concerns.
