Summary

This position is responsible for supervising the Financial Accounting and Accounts Payable sections of Special Metals Corp. This role also serves as a consultant for management within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and working with management to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of Special Metals.

Essential Functions

Responsible for supervising the accounting procedures and staff.Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports and statements.Oversees preparation and submission of treasury cash.Balance sheet analysis.Inter-company reporting and balancing.Month end close processing to prepare the submission of timely trial balances at month end to the Division team.Manage AR and AP processes.Oversees preparation of City and State Tax filings.Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting.Interfacing with the external auditors on accounting issues and providing supporting documentation.Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance.Advise management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization.Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization.Works with confidential data, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.Responsible for and directing month-end closing – journal entry preparation –general ledger account analysis – project review/analysis.Detailed oriented and flexible within an ever changing environment.

Work on special projects, implementations and report preparation as requested.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.A minimum of 5 – 7 years of applicable experience in the area of accounting.

·         Supervisory experience a plus.

·         Experience with multi-site manufacturing accounting in a US publicly traded company a plus.

Special Skills

·         Knowledge and experience with large ERP computer systems – like Oracle – specifically with General Ledger and Accounts Payable system experience would be beneficial.

·         Good working knowledge of all MS Office applications.
