The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for recording financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, performing period closing functions in Oracle Accounts Payable Module, preparing reports and supporting schedules, and assisting with audits.
Responsibilities:
Oversee Servco’s cash disbursement process, identify, plan, & develop best practice procedures, and work towards standardization within the department to ensure efficiencyOversee Oracle Accounts Payable module, facilitate Quarterly Oracle Testing, and support Servco’s business locations with matters related to procurement and subsequent tax implications.Build and maintain a positive working environment that promotes learning, development, support, and collaboration between all team members. Maintain and update proper documentation of process narrativesLead or assist with special projects to improve effectiveness and efficiency of accounting transactional processing and general ledger activities, while ensuring compliance to policy and that effective internal controls are in place to safeguard assets and prevent frauds.Provide proper supervision, work review, training, and development to assigned staff as requiredOversee timely & accurate processing of payables by managing and directing accounts payable staff. Assist Accounts Payable team in processing payments as needed. Requires management of authorized supplier listing. Ensures proper and updated tax forms are received from the vendorsOversee and review monthly closeout process by managing and directing staff, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and corrections, account reconciliations and review of closing reports during each close phase.Collaborate with operational teams to manage end-to-end workflow processes to properly record transactions in an accurate and timely manner.Evaluates issues encountered during review of transactions for internal control deficiencies and provides appropriate feedback to the up-stream control owners.Performs financial review and variance analysis as assigned.Completes assigned account reconciliations with discrepancies and outstanding items resolved in an accurate and timely manner.Assist in external and internal audits and special project reviews.Provide support services to stakeholders as requiredRequirements:
Minimum 5 years of accounting work experience which included general ledger, period closing, accounts payable and account reconciliation with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.Experience in retail, manufacturing, and automotive preferredTechnical accounting knowledge (U.S. GAAP)Understanding of basic accounting principlesProficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and ExcelTyping 35 wpmTen-key by touchComfortable using workplace video conferencing/collaboration platforms, preferably Microsoft TeamsOracle Financial Cloud and DealerTrack knowledge preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbout Servco:
