The Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH)-Bemidji is seeking to fill an Accounts Payable/Cashier (Account Clerk Senior) position to join our administration team. As an Account Clerk Senior, you will serve as our primary cashier and accounts payable clerk in the Business Office in the MVH-Bemidji.
This position is designated as part-time and primarily day shift. The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period **.** This position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
+ Provide the services of depositing and withdrawal of monies, including residents' (trust) accounts, and prepare receipts for transactions.
+ Receive monthly maintenance fees from each resident and/or their financial representative and prepare/record receipts.
+ Process designated contributions and checks/payments as received.
+ Provide daily balancing of imprest cash accounts and resident fund imprest checking account.
+ Process accounts payable transactions through the State of Minnesota's SWIFT system.
+ Assist with procurement functions by ordering supplies and equipment and acting as a liaison with vendors to facilitate accurate and timely delivery and returns.
**Mi** **nimum Qualifications**

+ Accounting skills sufficient to review, approve and process invoices and payments, as well as reconcile differences between invoices, receipts, and purchase orders.
+ Knowledge of basic accounting procedures sufficient to complete forms and documents that comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and maintain accurate and complete financial records.
+ Math skills sufficient to make accurate math calculations and review, adjust, reconcile, and tabulate accounting/finance-related data.
+ Skills in data entry and using spreadsheet and word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, to create spreadsheets and other documents and accurately input, verify, edit, compile, sort, and maintain accounting/finance-related data.
+ Strong communications and customer service skills sufficient to respond promptly, respectfully and effectively to customers in-person, on the phone, and through email and other written correspondence.
+ Ability to interpret and explain accounting and fiscal-related policies, procedures and practices to staff, residents, vendors and other customers.
+ Ability to attain a level of authority for local purchasing of at least $25,000 within the probationary period by completing training and testing requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business or a similar program.
+ One or more years of experience in accounts payable, banking, cashiering, and/or purchasing.
+ Experience in a long-term care or senior healthcare facility.
+ Accounts payable experience and skills in the State of Minnesota’s SWIFT system or other large/complex accounting system.
+ Experience/skills in technical government accounting.
**Additional Requirements**
+ A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
+ A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
+ Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s)
