Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Accountant to join our team in Santa Clara, California. In this role, you will be responsible for the management of vendor invoices and payments, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and participating in special projects. You will also be expected to utilize various software tools for data analysis and reporting, and to contribute to compliance and auditing processes.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process and review vendor invoices and payments.
• Handle inquiries and disputes with vendors, ensuring timely payments.
• Allocate expenses to the appropriate cost centers and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and submit accurate sales tax reports for various jurisdictions.
• Ensure adherence to all tax laws and regulations, with a particular focus on construction exemptions.
• Maintain comprehensive records of tax-exempt statuses and generate reports for large sales projects.
• Participate in and contribute to technology-driven projects, such as system upgrades or transitions related to accounting software.
• Collaborate with other teams to implement process improvements using automation and accounting tools.
• Conduct independent research on industry updates, tax regulations, and process optimization, and propose actionable recommendations.
• Utilize construction-specific accounting software like Foundation Software for payables and job-cost accounting.
• Leverage Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Query for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Support internal and external audits by providing the necessary documentation and reconciliation reports.
• Ensure all AP transactions comply with legal and corporate policies.
• Collaborate with project managers, finance teams, and external vendors to ensure accurate AP and tax processes.
• Effectively communicate findings, new policies, or process changes to the relevant stakeholders.
Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes is essential
• Experience in performing Check Runs is required
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are necessary
• Familiarity with Foundation Software is a plus
• Knowledge of Tax Reporting procedures is highly desirable
• Ability to manage and resolve Complex Queries is crucial
• Previous experience in the Construction sector is beneficial
• Understanding of the Construction Industry is advantageous
