Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our team in the Hospitality industry based in Commerce, California. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting tasks such as processing invoices, maintaining accurate records, and communicating with relevant departments for any missing information.
Responsibilities:
+ Overseeing the daily management of the Accounts Payable (AP) team.
+ Managing the accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivables, and payroll.
+ Developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies, including AP functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
+ Monitoring department workload to ensure the timely completion of tasks and meet month-end closing deadlines.
+ Reviewing accounts payable register and other related accounting reports to ensure accuracy.
+ Training and mentoring AP staff members and providing them with clear objectives and regularly monitoring their performance.
+ Handling escalated issues from team members or vendors and providing prompt resolutions.
+ Preparing and delivering performance reviews, and handling disciplinary actions when necessary.
+ Ensuring timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers, maintaining accurate records and control reports.
+ Collaborating with internal teams and executing process improvements in collaboration with other finance teams.
+ Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures.
+ Analyzing discrepancies and unpaid invoices.
+ Developing and maintaining relationships with both internal and external clients.
+ Staying updated with changing laws, regulations, and best practices in financial management and accounting.
+ Assisting with the preparation of financial audits.
Requirements
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Some positions may require a master's degree and/or a professional qualification such as CPA.
+ Several years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on accounts payable. Previous supervisory experience is also typically required.
+ Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including an understanding of the entire accounts payable process.
+ Technical expertise in accounting software programs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
+ Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
+ Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with an aptitude for decision-making and problem-solving.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as this role requires communicating with various stakeholders such as vendors, team members, and senior management.
+ High level of integrity and trustworthiness, with the ability to handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to make decisions based on detailed analyses.
+ Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines.
+ Understanding of applicable accounting laws, rules, and regulations.
+ Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and to implement new systems.
+ Experience preparing financial reports and interpreting financial data.
