Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are in search of an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team located in Jersey City, New Jersey. This role will primarily focus on managing the processing and payment of invoices, maintaining records of transactions, and interacting with vendors to address billing issues. This position is a contract role and will not transition into permanent employment.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure timely processing and payment of all supplier invoices.
• Maintain a comprehensive record of all transactions, organize invoices, and maintain a filing system for important documents.
• Regularly interact with vendors to reconcile billing issues, discrepancies, or to set up payment plans.
• Ensure all financial transactions are compliant with relevant financial laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Prepare accounts payable reports and statements, and other financial reports related to expenditures.
• Review purchase orders, track expenses, and provide insights into cost-saving opportunities.
• Provide necessary data and documents during internal or external audits.
• Manage vendor contracts, agreements, and details of the services offered, and amounts due.
• Continually assess and refine processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and productivity within the accounts payable department.
• Utilize and maintain accounting software systems to streamline operations.
Skills:
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems, Great Plains (GPAC), IBM AS/400, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Check Processing, Data Entry, Discrepancy handling. Requirements • Proficient in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with Great Plains (GPAC) is required
• Familiarity with IBM AS/400 system
• Skilled in using JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of Accounting Functions
• Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) operations
• Familiarity with Check Processing procedures
• Proficiency in Data Entry tasks
• Ability to identify and resolve Discrepancies effectively
