Accounts Payable Specialist

Looking to join a new team in the new year? We are looking for a new team member in our Accounting Department, as an Accounts Payable Specialist, part of our larger Specialty Group team.

This is a hybrid role located in the Specialty Group headquarters in Wakefield, MA.

Performance Objectives:

Within the first 30 days, you will gain an understanding of the department procedures, systems, and corporate policies, and how the Accounting department operates within the TMHCC Specialty structure through training and interactions with the accounting team and become familiar with our suppliers and employees from other Tokio Marine subsidiaries.

Within the first 60 days, you will be:

Processing payables, which will include:working with the Compliance department to set up suppliers in the ERP system,learning the online approval workflow system to process operating expenses,working with the Claims department to process payments to insureds,working with the Compliance department to process Surplus Lines Taxes on a periodic basis, andworking with the Bond department to process state filing fees as needed.Performing the compliance review of expense reports after becoming familiar with the corporate travel and expense policies.

Within the first 90 days, you will be working independently, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating the ability to meet challenges related to job responsibilities. Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities, especially at quarter and year ends.

Your Skills and Experience:

4-year bachelor’s degree preferred. A degree in Administration, Accounting, Finance, Insurance, or related field a plus.High School Diploma or GED or the equivalent education with related experience.Two or more years of relevant and progressive professional experience in accounts payables/ general accounting, etc.

Technical Skills:

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (emphasis on Excel and Outlook).Experience using any accounts payable software (experience using PeopleSoft Accounts Payable module a plus, but not required).

Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyAdept and accurate data entry skillsPossess and have ability to apply basic knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping principles, practices, and proceduresFlexibility and willingness to learnInquisitive and proactive attitude, not afraid to offer suggestions on improving/streamlining processesAdept at working as part of a team yet capable of working independently as needed
