Description We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team for a contract project in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Accounts Payable Specialist will focus on preparing, reviewing, and processing IRS Form 1099s for vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with federal tax regulations. In addition, this role will involve meticulous data entry and cleanup of financial records within our accounting system to support year-end reporting. Key Responsibilities: 1099 Preparation and Filing: Review vendor records to identify those requiring 1099 issuance. Verify vendor TINs (Taxpayer Identification Numbers) and W-9 compliance. Prepare and process accurate 1099 forms for submission to the IRS. Address and resolve discrepancies in vendor or payment data. Accounts Payable Data Entry: Input vendor invoices, payment records, and relevant tax data into the accounting system. Ensure all records are accurate, complete, and properly categorized. Reconcile accounts payable data to ensure compliance with non-profit standards and regulations. Compliance and Reporting: Assist in maintaining proper documentation and audit trails for all vendor transactions. Collaborate with the finance team to generate year-end financial reports. Stay informed on IRS and non-profit-specific regulations impacting 1099 compliance. Requirements 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles. Hands-on experience processing 1099 forms and vendor compliance management. Prior experience working with non-profits is a plus. Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions Proven experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) Proficiency in Accrual Accounting Experience in Auditing, ensuring the accuracy and propriety of transactions Familiarity with Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions Knowledge of Form 1099 and its applications in tax reporting Proficiency in using Dynamics 365 Business Central for financial management.
