Accounts Payable Specialist
Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in North Haven, Connecticut. This role is integral to our accounting department, ensuring that all accounts payable transactions are processed accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in an accounts payable role within the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of purchase price variance concepts.

ResponsibilitiesInvoice Processing: Receive, verify, and process invoices using a 3-way match system.Payment Preparation: Prepare and issue checks in a timely manner to avoid late fees, both weekly and on an ad hoc basis.Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable transactions and statements, resolving any discrepancies.Vendor Management: Maintain relationships with vendors and handle inquiries or disputes professionally.Expense Reports: Process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of all transactions, vendor databases, and payment files.Reporting: Generate reports related to accounts payable status and activities, such as aging and unvouched reports.Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Maintain and issue vendor 1099s.Work closely with Purchasing to ensure vendor requests and issues are handled efficiently.Meet deadlines with accuracy and perform other similar or related duties as required or directed.Essential Skills3-5 years of experience in accounts payable within the manufacturing industry.Proficiency in accounting software such as Excel, QuickBooks, and SAP.Strong knowledge of invoice processing and reconciliation.Attention to detail and organizational skills.Good communication skills in English.Additional Skills & QualificationsIntermediate MS Excel skills, including v-lookups and pivot tables.ERP systems experience is a plus.Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax.Strong problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Detailed knowledge of basic accounting procedures.Thorough understanding of accounts payable procedures and general ledger chart of accounts.Interpersonal skills, maintaining confidentiality.Adaptability to deal with frequent change or unexpected events.Dependability and punctuality.Planning and organizing skills.Observance of safety and security procedures.Work Environment

The work hours are Monday to Friday, 1st shift. This role offers the opportunity to work with an established team, receive cross-training, and grow within the company.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $56160.00/yr.
