Job Description
The primary focus of the Business Insurance Accounting Operations Associate is to provide support to the Commission Accounting Team and the General Accounting Supervisor. This position is responsible for assisting the team with the Business Insurance Direct Bill Application in accordance with the objectives and procedures outlined by the Director of Finance.
ResponsibilitiesAdminister the operations of Business Insurance Direct Bill Commission Application.Apply carrier commissions.Work with carriers to gain access to commission statements.Work with the operations team to ensure policies are set up in the system.Upload chargebacks for Business Insurance.Process return commission requests and refunds due back to carriers.Serve as backup for Contingency application.File appropriate documents in Shared Folders and Electronic Filing System.Set up carriers with electronic fund transfers (ACH/Wires).Act as backup Lead on Reconciliation upload tools.Assist Lead in various projects associated with system conversion to EPIC.Assist Lead with any ad hoc projects.Essential SkillsMinimum 1+ years’ experience in accounting or accounts receivable.Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPS.Experience using ERP or other company software.Experience with cash receipts, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.High attention to accuracy and detail.Professional written, verbal communication, organizational, and people skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree preferred but not required.Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Basic knowledge of Account Management Systems and insurance terminology preferred, but not required.Proficiency with 10-key and Microsoft Word.Ability to adapt quickly to change and bring innovative ideas to the job.Work Environment
This position supports three small teams: AP team, AR team, and general accounting. The working hours are 7.75 hours per day, 38.75 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, with flexible start times. Employees have the option of taking a half-hour break. If local to San Diego County, the employee must be onsite three days a week for the first 90 days, then move to one day onsite. If not local to San Diego County, the employee must be onsite once a week.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
