Description
Our client, a prominent company in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager to lead their AR department. The AR Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full cycle of accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate billing, collections, and cash application processes. This is a key leadership role requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive improvements in processes and collections.
Responsibilities:
+ Oversee and manage the accounts receivable department, including supervising and mentoring a team of AR staff.
+ Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, billing, and collections for all clients and projects.
+ Establish and implement effective AR processes, policies, and controls to ensure efficiency and compliance with company procedures.
+ Manage and monitor accounts receivable aging reports, identify overdue accounts, and take proactive steps to resolve outstanding payments.
+ Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring effective communication regarding payment terms, disputes, and collections.
+ Work closely with project managers and other departments to ensure proper job costing, accurate billing, and timely payments.
+ Review and approve customer credit limits, terms, and risk assessments.
+ Monitor and report on key AR metrics, including cash flow and DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
+ Ensure accurate and timely cash application, ensuring proper allocation to customer accounts.
+ Lead the AR month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately.
+ Coordinate and collaborate with the finance team to prepare and present AR-related reports and forecasts.
+ Assist with the preparation of financial statements and audit-related requests.
+ Manage and resolve customer disputes and payment issues in a professional and timely manner.
+ Continuously assess and improve AR processes, implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
+ Strong experience in the construction industry, including knowledge of job costing and project-based billing.
+ Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage 300) is highly preferred.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
+ Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
+ Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Experience in cash flow forecasting and AR reporting.
