Accounts Receivable Specialist
Description Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in the Hunt Valley, MD area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts receivable management, with specific expertise in accounts receivable, collections, and reconciliation. This role requires a proactive approach in managing the full accounts receivable lifecycle, ensuring accurate invoicing, resolving customer billing issues, performing regular reconciliations and more. This is a direct-hire position that offers full-benefits and a hybrid work schedule. Key Responsibilities: + Accounts Receivable Management: + Oversee the aging of accounts receivable and prioritize collection efforts for overdue accounts. + Monitor and manage accounts receivable aging reports, ensuring all balances are up-to-date and accurate. + Identify and investigate any discrepancies or delinquencies in accounts. Resolve disputes, working closely with the customer and internal teams to ensure timely resolution. + Collections: + Develop and maintain collection strategies for overdue accounts, including direct communication with customers via phone, email, and formal letters. + Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements to resolve outstanding balances, while maintaining positive customer relationships. + Work with the legal team, if necessary, for escalation of non-payment situations. + Track and report on collection efforts, providing regular updates to management on aged receivables. + Reconciliation: + Perform regular reconciliation of accounts receivable ledgers to ensure that all payments, credits, and adjustments are accurately reflected. + Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between customer accounts and the general ledger. + Reconcile unapplied payments, aged credit balances, and customer payment terms to ensure accurate financial reporting. + Work with the accounting team to ensure proper posting of payments and adjustments into the accounting system. + Ensure that all reconciliations are completed in a timely manner to support month-end and year-end closing processes. + Reporting & Month-End Close: + Prepare and present regular reports on accounts receivable status, aging, collections, and reconciliation progress for management. + Assist with month-end closing processes, ensuring that AR balances and reconciliation adjustments are accurately reflected in financial reports. + Contribute to the preparation of financial statements by providing up-to-date information on account balances and reconciled items. + Collaboration & Customer Service: + Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding billing inquiries, payment status, and dispute resolution. + Collaborate with sales, customer service, and other departments to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction. + Work closely with the finance team to develop and implement efficient processes for AR management, billing, collections, and reconciliation. Requirements Required Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred + Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. + Strong knowledge of accounts receivable management, collection techniques, and reconciliation procedures. + Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. + Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. + Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to resolve complex discrepancies. + Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. + Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and reconciliation best practices.
