Pay $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
The Accounts Payable Specialist compiles and maintains accounts payable records. The Accounts Payable Specialist will increase operational efficiency by accurately processing and making payments of vendor invoices, while maximizing vendor cash discounts, where applicable.
Core Responsibilities
Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. Includes matching invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation, checking vendor information, quantities, payment terms and costs, and entering applicable information into the accounts payable system. Processing and payment of vendor invoices while maximizing cash discounts, where applicable. Prepare check/invoice packets for data entry. Check accounts payable edits after entry for errors, make any appropriate corrections if needed. Prints and obtains signatures on accounts payable checks. Prepare and enter approved journal entries relating to payables/expense coding, when necessary. Distributes signed checks as required. Maintains vendor accounts & answers vendor inquiries. Maintains accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate accounts payable files. Resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner. Balance vendor statements to accounts payable to rectify any discrepancies. Review all vendor account credit balances for return to Organization. Assist in monthly and year end closings. Assists with providing documentation to auditors as part of annual audit. Performs required filing and copying.
Qualifications
Associates Degree or 3 years’ experience in accounts payable or related field. Intermediate Computer Skills (Windows, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Word, Excel, Access). Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License
