The goal of ACS Productions is to communicate how chemistry shapes the world around us and highlight the amazing work being done by scientists around the globe. We make use of multiple media and distribution platforms to reach diverse audiences and collaborate across ACS. From weekly webinars to videos, live streams, and podcasts, our products are rooted in science but accessible to audiences whether they know a little chemistry or a lot.
Position Summary
The podcast production intern will work with ACS Productions staff to support podcasts at ACS, such as “Tiny Matters,” by preparing scripts and editing recorded audio. The candidate would pitch, research, and write scripts for the podcast as well as be involved in the recording and editing process. There will also be an opportunity to assist with other video and live event projects within ACS Productions
Key Responsibilities:
-Researching topics in journal articles and other sources of information.
-Finding experts to profile.
-Assisting in interviews with the experts.
-Writing audio scripts, with citations of sources.
-Editing interviews and recorded narration into a complete podcast episode.
Qualifications:
-Strong interest in science communication.
-Familiarity with scientific research and journal articles.
-Experience writing about science.
-Ability to distill scientific concepts for a non-expert audience.
-Experience with research and source citation.
-Experience editing audio preferred.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite.
-Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Descript, Squadcast, or Riverside a plus
Education Requirements:
The Ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or pursuing a Masters/ PHD in Science Communication

Pay Transparency: This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. The following are the intended hourly rates for this part time/nonexempt role: Rising Junior-$23.00; Rising Senior-$24.00; Current Grad/PhD Student- $27.00.
Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of ACS. ACS reserves the right to amend or modify its employment benefits and compensation structure at any time.
*This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, two days per week. Schedule flexibility may be required for this role to support in-office activities. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other three days of the week from a location of their choice.
