Responsibilities
Pathways Center Care Campus has two 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Units; one for adults and one for individuals ages 5-17. Pathways Center's Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU's) are short term (2-7 days), medically monitored crisis residential programs, which offer services for a limited duration to stabilize acute psychiatric or behavioral symptoms, evaluate treatment needs, and develop plans to meet the needs of persons served. The programs operate 24 hours per day 7 days per week. The CSU's are designed to serve as a first line of community based alternative care to hospitalization, offering psychiatric stabilization and detoxification services on a short-term basis.
Under direction of the Client Activities Team Supervisor, the Client Activities Associate plans, directs, and/or coordinates therapeutic activity/recreation programs for the Care Campus Child and Adult Centers. Activities may include sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts & crafts. Responsibilities for the Client Activities Associate include but are not limited to the following:
· Collaborates with healthcare team to conduct an assessment of each patient’s condition and recommends appropriate recreational activities to compliment treatment and/or recovery plan
· Seeks to renew an individual's zest for life through assorted and defined leisure activities, tailored specifically to each patient based upon diagnosis
· Considers medical records, personal observation, and talks with the patient and his or her loved ones to help ensure the treatment and recovery experience is impactful, meaningful, and enjoyable
· Works with Client Events Coordinator and other healthcare team members to successfully facilitate daily therapeutic activities
· Stays informed and current on communal and therapeutic resources available to best meet each patients needs
· Documents each patient’s responses to the various therapeutic activities, which occur throughout the day
· Works with Client Events Coordinator to monitor adherence to the weekly patient/client schedules and activities
· Participates in daily client/patient staffing meetings as requested
· Educates families and/or natural supports on activities provided, including providing feedback on patient/client participation at discharge
· Partners with Client Events Coordinator and Another Way Foundation in various client and staff events
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related therapeutic recreation or related therapeutic experience
The individual in this role must be organized and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively to mobilize team members to execute planned activities.
Bachelor's degree in a therapeutic recreation or related therapeutic discipline from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR One year of experience at the lower level Activity Therapist 1 (HCP060) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require registration in the area of assignment.
