Job Summary:
CASES is seeking an Activity & Engagement Specialist for our ATI Program serving young people ages 16-27. This position will be responsible for creating dynamic, inclusive, personalized programming for CASES participants. The Activity & Engagement Specialist will work alongside team members to coordinate programing and streamline access and engagement for participants. The Activity & Engagement Specialist will work closely with service providers, both internal and external, to create programming that reflects ROAR’s core mission and fully supports participants. The Activity & Engagement Specialist is responsible for arranging and integrating programming for young people in a way that supports their growth and autonomy. As such, they must actively practice cultural competence: acknowledging personal stereotypes, considering different moral positions, and believing strongly in a strengths-based, holistic approach that supports multiple intelligences and pathways.
CASES participants come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and the Activity & Engagement Specialist should see this diversity as positive and leverageable. The Activity & Engagement Specialist will work to coordinate all CASES programming in a way that nurtures and supports each individual in their personal, academic, and professional development. CASES youth need support in discovering their own strengths and abilities, and with building their agency to make informed decisions; as such, the specialist should be adaptable, with a constant goal of reaching mutual understanding and positive outcomes.
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Salary: The salary for this role is $52,000 per year.
Location Address: 424 East 147th Street, Bronx, NY 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: Flexible - Staff have flexibility to complete their work day from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.
What you will be doing:
Develop rapport with participants to support service plans and ensure support is provided throughout program participationConduct orientations for all new participants to assess interests and entitlement needs, ensuring comprehensive understanding of expectations and opportunities for the duration of programCreate and facilitate virtual and on-site activities for youth that promote developmentally appropriate experiences including development of leadership and advocacy skillsPlan and execute off-site activities that offer participants opportunities to develop or identify interestsCollaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure activities align with service plans and needs of participantsProvide services that are inclusive of diversity and address the disparities experienced by program participantsEstablish and maintain relationships with community stakeholders who may provide experiences for participantsParticipate in team meetings and collaborative service planning as well as borough-based team meetings, supervision, and trainingWork flexible hours when requiredOther duties as assigned by Team LeaderWhat we are looking for:
HS/HSE diploma or Bachelor’s degreeDemonstrated experience planning activities, facilitating groups and/or mentoring youth and young adultsWillingness to participate in all activities including outdoor excursions, overnight camping and/or college tripsExcellent organization and communication skillsMust be creative, flexible and proactivePreferred but not required:
