We want your knowledge and expertise! **Job Summary and Qualifications** The activity/recreational therapist position reports directly to the Clinical Director and is responsible for the planning, organization and conducting of recreational activities and groups for patients admitted to Southern Hills Hospital. **Knowledge, Sills & Abilities:** + Ability to organize, coordinate and evaluate activity programming for patient population. + Have a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic activities for admitted patients in a psychiatric setting. + Be able to handle multiple tasks pertaining to patient issues. + Be able to work in a team environment. **What qualifications you will need:** **Education:** + Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy or in one of the recognized related activity therapy fields such as music, art, or dance as outlined in CMS standards for inpatient psychiatric care. **Experience:** + Minimum one (1) year experience working in therapeutic recreational programs - Preferred **Certifications/License:** + Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) licensed by the State of Nevada + Hold and maintain current licensure in recreation therapy of recognized related fields such as music, art or dance + Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of hire **Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:** + Adhere to all scope of services per the Nevada state licensing board for which the staff member is licensed. + Documents Activity Therapy Interventions, observations, assessments and data regarding patients in accordance with documentation policies and procedures + Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team in developing, updating and re-evaluating patients’ therapeutic treatment plan + Organize and encourage suitable participation in recreational activities in areas that improve client’s social skills, organizational skills, communicative abilities, leisure education abilities, life skills, and self-confidence + Maintain records of client’s progress toward achieving initial goals, client’s participation in group activities, and client’s behaviors + Performs additional duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department + Identify current and future material requirements, and order and maintain supplies and equipment for recreational activities and programs + Keeps equipment and supplies safe for use and in working order. + Attends required training and continuing education as evidenced by attendance forms that will be added to personnel file Southern Hills Hospital (https://southernhillshospital.com) is a 260+ bed acute care hospital.
