Actuarial Analyst
Job Summary

Provides support to the Actuarial Services department in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to developing commercial rate filings, assisting in the valuation and financial planning process, medical trend analysis, actuarial pricing and experience analysis. This will include obtaining and analyzing data, maintaining and updating databases and pricing models, and running regular analytical reports and communicating the results to management.

Essential Functions

Obtain, prepare, and analyze financial information for use in developing Commercial rate filings.

Assist in updating and maintaining pricing models to support internal decision making for product development.

Assist in developing models and assumptions for financial forecasting across all lines of business.

Assist in analysis related to month-end and year end valuations. Variance analysis of actual to forecasted results and development of explanations for variances.

Work on projects in areas such as trend analysis, benefit relativity analysis, actual-to-expected experience analysis.

Run reports, update databases, conduct research for the Actuarial Services department. Make recommendations for streamlining and improving processes and implement approved changes.

Make expected progress in the actuarial exams process, if applicable. Maintain quality documentation for all work products.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree Actuarial Science or related discipline such as business, economics, statistics, or mathProficiency in spreadsheet software (preferably Excel) and database software (such as Access) or programming languages (SQL and/or SAS)

Preferred

One or More actuarial exams passed
