Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice is looking for an Actuarial Analyst with experience in health actuarial work to join our team. The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational talents. About Our Practice
Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice is a team of highly self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals who serve a wide variety of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, state and federal agencies, healthcare providers, reinsurance companies, and employers. Our practice includes 50 actuarial professionals, as well as healthcare consultants, administrative staff, and other non-actuarial personnel. We have developed expertise in a variety of business areas, offering comprehensive and specialized services to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

What You Will Do
Actuarial Analysts perform data analysis using Excel, SAS, R, Python while working with proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas.
Within a project team, consultants, project managers, analysts, and interns coordinate their efforts to deliver client reports and deliverables. Analysts are responsible for the majority of the technical work, which may include analyzing data, completing actuarial calculations, developing, and utilizing actuarial models, and implementing software solutions.
We feel progression with actuarial exams is important, and as such study time is supported and expected. Study time, materials, and exam fees are paid for by Milliman for full time actuarial staff.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications:
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field At least one or more Society of Actuaries exams passed Two to six years of healthcare actuarial experience Meaningful experience in one of more of the following areas would be considered a “plus”: Medicaid rate-setting Reserving and year-end statutory financials (“blue” and “orange” blanks) ACA pricing/rate filing Medicare Advantage, especially bid development and understanding of revenue mechanisms (e.g., risk scores, star ratings) Value-based provider contracting Employer stop-loss and/or reinsurance pricing Solid understanding of basic actuarial concepts Proficiency with Excel Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, or RPersonal Qualifications

Location
This position is fully remote, as our practice is comprised of consultants all over the country. Remote candidates anywhere in the US will be considered.
Compensation
The salary range is $63,000- $152,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If overall experience is less than 4 years the range would be $63,000 - $135,000; for experience of greater than 4 years, the range would be $71,000- $152,000.
Employees are also eligible for a bonus under our standard bonus policy. A paid bonus is dependent on billable hours worked by the employee. Actual bonuses vary widely based on desired and completed workload but routinely exceed 40% of base salary.
