About The Role
As an Actuarial Analyst Intern in our Employee Benefits Division, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to actuarial work within the group benefits industry. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will analyze data, prepare actuarial valuations, and contribute to real-world projects. This role provides a unique opportunity to deepen your technical expertise and gain insight into how actuarial analysis supports businesses in achieving their employee benefits objectives.
What You’ll Do
Conduct data review, assumption setting, and prepare reports for actuarial valuations.
Perform quarterly and annual financial analysis across various industry sectors.
Analyze renewal rates and assist in fee and rate negotiations with carriers.
Develop and present data-driven insights through reports and presentations.
Provide analytical support to internal teams and clients, addressing complex inquiries.
Review insurance contracts, financial statements, and claim data.
Participate in market research and analysis projects to inform client recommendations.
Collaborate with senior consultants and analysts to solve problems and enhance client outcomes.
Actively engage in workshops, training, and industry seminars to build technical skills.
Support client communications by drafting reports, presentations, and formal letters.
What You’ll Need for Success
Enrollment in a Bachelor’s program in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (3rd or 4th-year students only).
Progress toward an actuarial designation is an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for working with data.
Proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, lookups).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
Independent and self-motivated with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
