This job role is in the Optum Advisory and Implementations business unit under the Government Programs Actuarial (GPA) practice. The GPA practice focuses on providing actuarial consulting services to Medicare and Medicaid payers. This actuarial consulting practice competes with other traditional actuarial consulting organizations in the industry. The GPA practice primarily works with non-United Health Group payer entities and focuses on creating top tier actuarial solutions for its customers. Since this job is a consultative role, work responsibilities will vary based on customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Create actuarial reports and analytics to support Part C and Part D bid development Conduct and evaluate studies on risk adjustment, utilization, and health care costs Perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling to provide project managers with statistical findings and conclusions Design and run complex data programs to analyze medical claims and create actuarial models Contribute on multiple work streams and project teams effectively

Required Qualifications:        

Bachelor’s degree Working toward ASA or FSA designation with 2+ actuarial exams passed 3+ years of healthcare actuarial experience 1+ years of Medicare Advantage or Medicaid experience Expertise in Excel and Microsoft Office suite

 

Preferred Qualifications:        

ASA or FSA designation 4+ years of healthcare actuarial experience Project management experience Consulting experience Working experience with large claims datasets Well-developed oral and written communication skills Any technical skills with: Power BI, SQL, SAS, Python, data visualization, and data model design experience

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
