Job Summary
Provide diagnostic and surgical services to the patients of the Charleston Area Medical Center, Inc and its affiliates per the terms of the employment contract.
Responsibilities
To provide care of CAMC patients in the field of Acute Emergency and General Surgery in compliance with the highest standards of medical art and science, and with the ethical standards of conduct as applies to such fiduciary relationships. Such care will be delivered in the appropriate setting and coordinated with the staff present at each site. The physician will take the lead in all patient care issues and will be ultimately responsible for the outcome of the encounter.
Provide acute emergency and general surgery services and critical care services at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Participate in Trauma Services coverage with the Trauma Surgery Group as per the employment agreement at CAMC General Hospital.
Participate in General Surgery on-call rotations within the Department of Surgery as per the employment agreement.
Provide post operative care of for patients upon which physician has performed surgery.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must be able to relate appropriately with patients, staff, corporate management, medical staff and co-workers. Managed care knowledge is helpful. Must be a team player. Must remain current in medical/surgical knowledge as well as applicable legal and regulatory issues.
Education
MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent degree from an accredited program
Credentials
Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery with board certification or board eligibility in trauma/surgical critical care preferred.
