AD, Actuarial Associate
Overview of the Position
This position is a key role within the actuarial team aligned to our $5 Billion Small Commercial organization with a focus on supporting profitable growth across product lines for a given territory. The position provides a unique opportunity to broaden experience across multiple lines and functions, while allowing the individual to influence business outcomes. The individual should bring strong technical and analytical skills, be able to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, and be able to influence business partners.
Responsibilities:
Partner with Small Commercial Product Management to develop strategies that drive profitable growth in a given region utilizing levers such as pricing, rate and business mixBecome fluent in all 3 Small Commercial LOBs – Auto, BOP, and WCSupport Small Commercial strategic initiatives and projectsDevelop new analytic tools and enhance current toolsExperience & Skills
The candidate should possess the following qualifications:
Minimum 2 years P&C work experience. Progress towards ACAS/FCAS preferred but not required. We will consider filling this role as part of our actuarial student program for a qualified candidate meeting requirements for entry into the program.Self-motivation, creativity, time-management, project-management, and customer-management skillsStrong technical and analytical skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a teamExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to audiences of various levels and diverse technical backgroundsFlexibility and willingness to adapt to changing prioritiesInnovative / problem solving approachShare knowledge across the Segment Actuarial TeamProvide input and recommendations for state rate reviews across all linesProactively find and share important results before business issues occurCompensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
