The ADA Building Assessor will be responsible for performing ADA assessments utilizing a strong knowledge of ADA Standards. The ADA Project Assessor will be responsible for accessibility field surveys and analysis related to physical barrier reporting and transition planning services. This position will involve a blend of travel to assess facilities and remote work when not traveling.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Core Functions:

 

The ADA Accessibility Assessment professionals will:

Perform ADA field surveys. Participate in all phases of Bureau Veritas accessibility work, including the review of design plans, specifications, and product submittals; field inspections and existing building audits; technical assistance and consulting during project development, design, and construction; remediation plans and cost estimates; litigation consulting; and training. Investigate, analyze, and respond to technical inquiries concerning accessibility issues. Must be proficient in highly specialized regulations, codes, standards, and other relevant criteria: Accessibility regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Fair Housing Amendments Act, and other state and local regulations. Accessibility requirements of the building code, including the International Building Code and other state and local codes. Accessibility standards and guidelines, including the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design, the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards, ANSI A117.1, and others. 1991 Standards for Accessible Design, Title 1, IV and V of ADA Prepare written reports that accurately describe findings through use of computer, iPad, and other electronic devices and software programs. Enter site and building barrier information into BV proprietary cost/barrier library. Maintain project-by-project communication on programs with Program managers and report reviewers and keeps them informed of any actual or potential problems including continuing updates of when reports will be e-mailed/shipped to production. The ability to use and skillfully operate an electronic tablet efficiently in the field for live data collection, and a computer for reporting writing is essential to this position. Ability to travel, on average, up to 50% of time to client sites across the U.S. via plane and driving as determined based on the project location.

 

In addition, you will:

Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to client’s needs. Maintain safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations. Have the ability to travel, on average, approximately 50% of time to client sites across the U.S. via plane and driving as determined based on the project location. Common patterns of travel include one day on-site followed by one day at home. The time at home is spent writing reports that communicate the field findings. Overnight stays away from home may be required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and/or Engineering or related field is preferred. Years of experience and certifications in lieu of a degree will be given consideration. Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting ADA assessments and writing technical reports. Experience performing accessibility drawing reviews and construction monitoring is preferable. Experience preferred with design and construction related services pertinent to ADA: 2010 Standards for Accessible Design Title II and Title III, ABA, Section 504, FHAAG, and UFAS. Candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: ADA Assessments, Accessibility Surveys, Facility Design, Building Construction.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Bonus for this role, not Required. Registered Architect, ADA Certifications such as ADAC, CASp, TX RAS, IBC Certified Inspector Plans Inspector A valid driver's license is required with no significant MVA points/violations (clean driving record).

 

Other Qualifications:

Must have a cell phone and supply your own internet service. Must be able to work from a remote location. Must be willing to fly and live near (or be willing to relocate to) a major metropolitan area with reasonable access to a major airport. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis on MS Excel.
