All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law. Position Information Class Code: S043C Grade: GS04 FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT Salary Range: $32,405.00 - $51,686.00 Summary The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) Industrial Supervisor I is responsible for monitoring the flow of production by inmate workers. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions Supervises and trains inmates within the Correctional Industry Factories providing safety and equipment instruction, overseeing tool and chemical issuance and assigning work. Maintains current inventories on flammable and caustic chemicals and monitors usage. Provides security for minimum security inmates on trips to install factory made goods. Performs area searches for contraband and accounts for inmates in assigned work areas. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions Exposure to the inmate population is required. Frequent exposure to harmful chemicals may be required. Occasional in-state travel may be required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of basic factory manufacturing systems and related equipment. Knowledge of blue print reading and drawings. Ability to develop work schedules and monitor inmate activities. Ability to develop and monitor quality control procedures to enhance factory goods. Skill in the operation of industrial factory equipment. Minimum Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma plus one year of experience in a related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
