ADCE Associate, Region Reliability
The AWS Intelligence Initiative program is hiring cleared builders for a unique opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest engineers and technical leaders. Builders undergo an intensive 3-6 month training and development program to learn about operational culture, enhance their technical skills through a hands-on job path curriculum, to obtain a holistic view of our technology, dedicated mentorship, and support from our program’s alumni. We are seeking highly motivated builders who are focused on learning operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations, interested in building an understanding of Linux, networking and general knowledge of cloud services. Upon graduation from our program, builders grow into engineering roles as part of the AWS Region Reliability organization.

Region Reliability is the cornerstone of continuous engineering improvement by driving efficiencies across AWS through innovation, automation, and operational excellence. This new organization was created to drive consistency in operational practices across AWS, reducing duplicative efforts and refining and accelerating operational excellence and best practices for AWS Amazon Dedicated Cloud Regions to provide a simpler experience for our customers and AWS Builders.

In this role, you are able to take a defined set of tasks and execute it on schedule. You identify ineffective processes. You are learning to execute on well defined technical implementations following a Standard Operating Process and learning from more experienced builders around you. You will build a general understanding of operational risks and learn how to avoid taking unnecessary risks. After gaining technical experience you may begin to identify operational concerns and resolve or escalate concerns in a timely manner.

This is an opportunity to operate and engineer systems on a massive scale, and to gain top-notch experience in cloud computing. You'll be surrounded by people who are smart, passionate about cloud computing, and believe that world class service is critical to customer success. You will become an AWS Services platform diagnosis, response, measurement, and automation expert. You will support and simplify the operational scalability that sustains the platform's insane growth. As an ADCE Associate, you will be learning how to play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our AWS infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to execute a defined set of operational tasks on a schedule, and learning how to identify any ineffective processes or technical implementations that may be hindering performance, availability, or maintainability. You will learn how to understand operational risks and avoid taking unnecessary risks. You will work with more senior engineers that identify operational concerns, and gain familiarity with how teams are responsible for resolving, mitigating, or escalating them in a timely manner.

Supporting mission critical workloads involve being present in a Remote Managed Facility (RMF) 5 days a week to execute on your assigned tasks. Over time you will gain the ability to execute on narrow, well-defined workflow processes and become familiar with the application of available tooling. An ADCE Associate will learn to resolve most straightforward blockers by leveraging existing runbooks, and effectively communicate any issues that may arise to peers and leaders. On this team, you may also learn how to identify the root cause of issues and ways of how to provide feedback to workflow owners. You will grow into understanding strong operational and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to work independently on defined tasks and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
