The AddictionCounselor provides one on one drug and alcohol consultation topatients/clients; along with individual and group therapy in a variety ofsettings including inpatient and outpatient programs. The Addiction Counseloralso provides crisis intervention and assists with behavioral health needs andissues including mental illness, developmental and learning disabilities,substance use, etc.

 

Position Details:

Position: Addiction Counselor Licensure/Certification Requirements: ADT, CSC-AD, CAC-AD; or Maryland Licensed LGADC, LCADC Location: Curtis Bay, Maryland Contract Length: 20 Weeks (temp to perm opportunity) Schedule: Full Time, Days, 40 hours/week, 8a-5p, Every other weekend availability required

 

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

Provides addiction-related health and psychosocial assessments Assists with analyzing of patient/client health needs and establishes applicable treatment programs Provides individual and group treatment/therapy Consults unit staff in regard to diagnosis and treatment planning when appropriate Provides crisis intervention to align with clinical standards and programming Assigns patients/clients to special programs /or placements to meet health needs and/or legal requirements Provides proper clinical documentation per facility policy Communicates to advise, clinical staff on treatment planning and patient/client goals Helps family members understand their role in the recovery process and assists with coping and family-related issues Modifies treatment programs as necessary based off observations Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

 

Minimum Requirements:

Maryland Certification: ADT, CSC-AD, or CAC-AD; or Maryland License LGADC, LCADC Experience in behavioral health guidelines, to include behavioral health assessments, individual and group therapy, clinical management of patients with mental illness and / or substance abuse issues preferred Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements  Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required  Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age
