Addiction Recovery Specialist - Recovery Medicine - St. Vincent Hospital

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Assist in facilitating a collaborative relationship between individuals in recovery from substance use disorders and the Center for Inclusion Health Addiction Medicine team.                 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engage the individual and establish rapport as evidenced by emphatic and active listening, communicating in a nonjudgmental way, recognizing addictive behavior.

Recognize signs and symptoms of addiction with sensitivity to cultural and environmental differences.

Assist in development and enhancement of a comprehensive recovery plan by identifying resources, including community programs and agencies, and overcoming barriers to that plan.

Ability to recognize emergency and crisis situations.

Educate the individual, family, and community about disease of addiction and the recovery process.

Conduct self in an ethical manner by adhering to codes of ethics and standards of practice.

The position is part of CIH's Addiction Medicine team and will work with the addiction medicine population. The team takes a multidisciplinary approach to getting individuals connected to recovery services as well as appropriate treatment modalities.  Individuals connected to recovery services as well as appropriate treatment modalities.  Individuals must be able to navigate the healthcare system as well as advocate for this vulnerable population.  This position requires a general understanding of all treatment modalities of substance use disorders including harm reduction.  This position requires the ability to effectively communicate within the multidisciplinary team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

2-3 years of experience working with those in recovery

Preferred

Driver’s license
